Chums Program

The Chums Program at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School

At St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School, our beloved Chums program creates meaningful connections that strengthen our school community and embody the spirit of Christian fellowship. This cherished tradition pairs older students with younger classmates, fostering mentorship, friendship, and spiritual growth throughout the academic year.

How Chums Works

Each older student is thoughtfully matched with a younger student, creating partnerships that extend beyond the classroom. These special pairs sit together during our weekly Mass celebrations, sharing in prayer and worship as a united school family. Throughout the year, Chums participate in exciting activities and events designed to strengthen their bond and create lasting memories.

The Benefits of Having a Chum

For Younger Students:

  • Gain a caring mentor who provides guidance and encouragement
  • Develop confidence through positive peer relationships
  • Receive academic support and study assistance
  • Feel more connected and secure within the school community
  • Learn important social skills through structured interaction

For Older Students:

  • Develop leadership skills and a sense of responsibility
  • Practice empathy and compassion in action
  • Strengthen their own faith through service to others
  • Build communication and mentoring abilities
  • Experience the joy of making a positive difference

Classroom Support

Chums play an active role in supporting their younger partners' academic success. Older students may help with reading practice, provide homework assistance, and offer encouragement during challenging lessons. This peer-to-peer support creates a nurturing learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking academic risks, knowing they have a dedicated friend cheering them on.
